Surgical approaches to cervical cancer have undergone major changes in the last twenty years. Denis has been at the forfromt of many of these changes. As colposcopists who continue to diagnose cervical cancer at colposcopy it is useful to keep abreast of current developments in the field of minimally invasive techniques. In addition Denis questions whether the pendulum has swung too far in the search for more conservative treatments and reconfirms the primary end point of cure of the disease.
