Since the introduction of the NHS cervical screening programme twenty five years ago big improvements have been seen in the numbers of women getting and dying from cervical cancer. Four out of five women attend for regular smear tests but still one in five women do not attend. This year a special cervical screening awareness week will be held in Britain from the 13th to the 19th of June. Why not get involved and host an event to help raise awareness of the need to be up to date with regular checks.
The charity Jo's Trust will run a campaign to increase the awareness of cervical screening to try and increase uptake of regular tests. This week will run from the 12th-18th June 2017
