Examining Colposcopy performance; challenges of new referral pathways

Nicholas Wentzensen explores the effectiveness of colposcopy in the diagnosis of cervical abnormalities

The reliability of colposocpy as a diagnostic tool has been questioned. Colposcopically directed biopsies can improved the detection of high grade disease. This international study found a consistent increase in the yield of high grade CIN when two biopsies were taken as opposed to a single biopsy. This provocative talk looks at some of the evidence with particular reference to women referred with positive HPV results.
