HPV testing in primary screening

This talk was presented at the 2011 meeting of the BSCCP in Liverpool by Julian Petp

Cervical cytology screening programs reduce the incidence and mortality of cervical cancer through a process of organized call and recall. The test however is imperfect and is likely to be less effective in the future as the HPV vaccinated cohort forms an increasing proportion of the screened population. This talk explores the future role of HPV testing as a primary screening test.
