Rationale for RNA based tests - do they offer advantages?

HPV infection is a requirement for the developement of cervical cancer yet most HPV infections do not result in neoplastic change. Integration of the virus is required. HPV tests are more sensitive than cytoogy but there are issues regarding specificity. More specific tests include MRna tests and the challange is finding the value of these tests within the routine screening process. In this lecture Kate tells the MRna story.
